The T.E.A.R.S. Network was established and is dedicated to providing accurate and factual information about Transsexual and the Transgendered lifestyles. The information provided is intended to educate individuals dealing with any gender variant or gender confusion related issues, as well as to provide information to friends and family members. It is often difficult for people so close to attempt to understand what being Transgendered is really all about and what they can do to help a family member or friend dealing with Gender Identity Disorder (GID).
Along with educating family and friends, it is our mission to educate the general public, employers, and government agencies while attempting to break down much of the ignorance that surrounds the Transgendered lifestyle. We are raising awareness throughout small communities and spreading it outward to include state and national communities
Our focus is to raise funding to be directly applied to research programs to further understand how GID came to be, and also to seek out a cure for this very difficult and painful medical condition.
Our most important function however is to provide support to Transgendered individuals. Most often there is not much support for these individuals and family members and friends may turn their backs simply based on the bizarre nature of this medical condition. Most employers will not hire and very often will fire Transgendered individuals because of the logistical nightmare and unusual nature of this condition that changing gender presents. A large percentage of Transgendered individuals may resort to suicide as a final resolve to dealing with the extremely difficult and painful nature of being Transgendered.
